So now they've backed down from the changes and all the hoo ha the article below talks about. The only change that was made is Tuesday morning is the home of CS org now instead of the afternoon service. Morning classes are the same time and Tuesday Quiet Time is now Org, starting at 10am and third hour starts at 11am. No big deal, but they think that'll help imrove attendance or something.

WITH more students reaching the capacity of the numbers of hours in the day, the administration is looking for the blame of such a busy schedule.
Freshmen Housing... will happen
Wednesday, July 09, 1997
By Nathan Schuette, Ferguson House C'2000
Men of Ferg. It seems that the long and drawn out discussion about freshmen housing has finally come to a finish, for now. Those of you who have received the letter from President George Moffit know what I'm talking about. For those of you that didn't receive the letter or don't know what I'm talking about here's what's happened.
Recently, the Executive Board decided to proceed with a freshman dorm and co-ed housing project. Many changes to our campus life will be made because of this. The big one will be the dorm break-ups. Anderson and Rackham buildings are going to become freshman dorms which are co-ed by wings, because they are the largest dorms on campus and they need the space for all the freshmen. It looks like we won't be getting our home sweet home, Highland Hall, back anytime soon. Then Sylvester and Brooks will become co-ed by wing upperclassmen dorms. That news isn't so bad, we all could use a little women in our life, no matter how much trouble they are. Unfortunately, this change will also break up Lowrey and Anderson East. Where all those women are going to go, only Moffit knows. The men of Rackham will go live in Lowrey. The Joe McNabb building (A. East) is going to be used for housing the students displaced by the renovations that are going to be happening around campus. Any buildings not mentioned are going to be left alone.
Fortunately Pres. Moffit does give us some reasons for this change in our lifestyle, which is planned to start in the Fall of 1998. First off, there will only be 8 house boards, instead of 14, so the students won't be stretched out amongst so many obligations. The other reasons, stated below, were pretty weak, in the author's opinion, but I will let you decide on your own how valid they are. The housing changes will widen the sense of community that has been reduced by house loyalties. Second, the freshmen will get a deeper spiritual and academic foundation in freshmen dorms. Incidentally, the freshmen will be assigned to an upperclassmen house upon arrival and will take part in that house's activities.
Another thing that you might remember which was discussed as much as freshmen housing was the "Moral Education Proposal." Basically this gives more power to the students to set their own rules and officiate them and most importantly, no house hours!! This is still being "actively discussed" if I may use a quote from the letter.
So, some good and a little bad news from school. I guess we'll all see how these changes affect Prin, for better or worse. I know I'll always be a Ferguson man at heart.

Ferguson Makes Its Move
Wednesday, June 11, 1997
With the trunk room cleaned out and all the Ferg Men packed up, we make our somber journey across the campus to the motel-6, er... I mean Ferguson Building. With an unknown time estimate on how long the renovation will take, we will wait out this disappointing event in Ferguson History. Pending on the Freshmen Housing project (TBA this summer, stay posted), we will find out if we are gong to be able to go back to Highland Hall. Any comments welcome.
Ferguson House, Pack Your Bags!
Sunday, May 11, 1997
It's the new plan: the Men of Ferguson house will combine with select Men of Joe McNabb and move back to the other side of campus into the Ferguson Building. The Women of Anderson West, now living in the Ferguson Building will be combining with the Women of Anderson East and will be renamed The Women of Joe McNabb.
The approval for the renovation process came through recently from the trustees, and the Anderson Building (Ferg and Joe Houses) will need to be emptied out for that year long renovation process to occur.
What will happen when the renovation is all finished up is still unknown. Some options are for Anderson Building to become a Freshman dorm in the fall of 1998. The Ferg and Joe Buildings will stay as they are. The next building on the list for a face lift is the Rackham Building, where students will be shifted to make that happen is still to be figured out. The ideal plan as far as we are concerned is to combine with the Women of Joe and move back to the Anderson Building in a co-ed situation as one house, unified board, and be the Men and Women of Anderson.
Any comments and questions about this are very welcome and can be e-mailed to Ferg.
