Our first lunch break of the day at 3,410m (11,200ft) where we can get a good view of the trail ahead along the spine of the ridge. The dominent Erica arborea, or Heath Tree is covered by a light brown moss, a typical post fire sucession that was started by someone dropping their cigarette not too many years ago. Some smaller and younger Erica trees have since sprouted up and make up most of the splotches of dark green in the image.
